Creating great Link Baits.

Link Baits is a horrid way of highlighting what should be called cultured links. The Independent is really well practiced at the art of link baiting, which is listing links and posting data on websites in a topical or revealing way.

The greatest power of a Link Bait is the communication that comes from your links being contacted to raise the occurance. You hope from this that a published objection or adoration of it will feature on their side and thus create a pointing link.

Both adoration and objection is ideal but be mindful that doing the dirty on other businesses is wrong and you are to admire competitor's for their good points... nonetheless my favourite Link Bait is to give journalists a reason to write. This could be "Why 5 of the best are now the worst" list.

If you ever feature in a link bait, you might want to ask the Link Baiter to install a 'No Follow' to the link.
