A Press Release really is not an easy thing when their are so many audiences to consider. Most journalists I speak with love a leaderboard image, a killer exclusive, a strong headline, 2 paragraphs and seperate statistics and technical sheet.
The most important thing there is to find the edge of a story that'll break the press, get some great photos to increase the stories column inches and send to all journalists in an email with photos included in the email and not attached.
There is a formula to finding an edge on a story... the formula is What would you never do + What would never happen = the perfect Press Release.
